SAP/DOT Assessment

A SAP/DOT Assessment is a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) evaluation required by the Department of Transportation (DOT) for employees who have violated DOT drug and alcohol regulations. Individuals will need a SAP assessment if they have:

− Tested positive for drugs or alcohol

− Refused a test

− Failed to comply with DOT substance use policies

The SAP assessment provides a professional evaluation, recommends necessary treatment or education, and determines when an individual is eligible to return to safetysensitive duties.
